Milo Greene and Kopecky Family Band

Yes, I saw Kopecky Family Band twice in 2 months, and I will continue to see them as long as they keep coming anywhere close to where I live. This was the first time in four years when I have shot a concert in digital. Film has been my medium for mostly all of my photographic work,  but I'm trying to force myself into the digital world for the sake of having more to work with. It was nerve wrecking at first, but I have to admit I was having a blast being able to shoot as many pictures as I like. I do enjoy having many pictures to choose from, and that's one thing about film that has always frustrated me a little when shooting concerts. Facial expressions can change in a second and it's exciting to have the means to catch that before it's gone.

Before the show I had well worn out KFB's LP "Kids Raising Kids" and a couple tracks from Milo Greene's self titled album. As what usually happens, I fell in love with Milo Greene's entire album after the concert and listened to it for 4 days straight after. With KFB, because I have known all of their work pretty well for a while now, each concert shed light on a song I hadn't been paying as much attention to as I have with the others. For their show in Lawrence last month, their gentle and sweet arrangement of "Change" quickly made it my favorite song off the album. As for this show in KC, their booming and magnetic performance of "She is the One" had me thinking about it for rest of the night.

I know I'm biased and that I rave about every concert I go to, but I have to say it's truly a shame that Milo Greene and Kopecky Family Band weren't playing at the Sprint Center to a sold out crowd. It's refreshing to see bands that seem like they are genuinely enjoying every second of being in your city playing for you. It's easy to treat everything as if it's a task to check off on a list, but like Confucius said, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life".
